Greg Saunier dei Deerhoof scrive: “I’ve always been wild about LiLiPUT since they became our ‘labelmates’ when KRS rereleased their music on CD. Then when the Flaming Lips asked if we could do ATP New York, they told us we couldn’t just play our normal set, so we set about learning covers. We had a whistle laying around so “HITCH-HIKE” with its prominent whistle part just called out to us. Then it turned out that Veronica from Finally Punk was in charge of LiLiPUT’s fan page on myspace, and she told Ed that LiLiPUT’s guitarist Marlene Marder saw our version on YouTube. Before long we coincidentally had a show booked in Switzerland (LiLiPUT was from Switzerland). Marlene took the train over and showed up right when we were soundchecking. She said she hadn’t played onstage in years. Instead she’d been working for World Wildlife Fund and other environmental NGOs, and traveling the world on cargo ships. She fixed our wrong lyrics and came on for our last song that night. She took John’s guitar and we did “HITCH-HIKE” together. She is a wonderful person and I hope we get to meet her / play with her again!” .

Una misconosciuta meteora del post punk continentale. Le Kleenex si formano nel 1979 in Svizzera ma sono costretto l’anno seguente a cambiare nome in LiLiPUT per via dell’azione legale del colosso Kimberly-Clark che in Svizzera detiene il marchio di un celebre assorbente. Dopo un EP omonimo come Kleenex è solo nel 1982 che arriva il debutto via Rough Trade. Post punk all female da sistemare idealmente tra i dischi di Essential Logic e Raincoats . Nel 2001 la Kill Rock Stars provvede fortunatamente una raccolta che contiene 46 brani a ripercorrere la breve carriera della band. Nove anni dopo la stessa label pubblica un preziosissimo CD/DVD ‘Live Recordings, TV-Clips & Roadmovies’ (uscita 23 marzo): “The CD features two full live sets: Kleenex live in Biel in 1979 and Liliput live in Zurich in 1983, and they include some never before released songs. This is the sound of a world-class band in their prime. The DVD includes the much rumored about document of their European tour in 1982, Roadmovie, as well as live performances of the band on Swiss TV. Live Recordings, TV-Clips & Roadmovie contains previously unreleased tracks (Geierwally, Pink Hit, Lust, Take a taste of my mind, Where Do You Find the Time) and previously unreleased video footage including television studio quality sound and video, and a super-8 film created during Liliput tour, 1982″.

Ma non è finita perchè il 18 maggio è pronta una super ristampa in vinile (4 LP) della raccolta del 2001.
